Recently I found myself browsing through a box of old film slides that had been in my Grandma's house for as long as I can remember. The box was given to her by my Great Grandpa's cousin and for reasons unknown, she she decided to keep them. As I looked through these images of, and taken by, these distant family members I had never met, I found myself piecing together the narrative of their lives and being totally swept away. Right then I fully realized the importance of capturing life's biggest moments, but also the small moments in between. In order to tell a story properly you have to create character backgrounds, so that when it comes time for the pinnacle moments of the story, you care about what is happening to these characters. As a photographer, it is my job to capture it all. To give character depth and context to your story, so that future generations (perhaps even, your cousin's great grandchild) can learn from you through seeing your love, adventures, and relationships. Who knows, it might inspire them to live their life fully, the way they see you have lived yours.

A question I am often asked is, "what is your shooting style". That is a bit of a loaded question for me, and usually results in a lengthy explanation as to WHY I choose to shoot the medium I do, and my goal as a photographer as I enter each wedding day.
First and foremost I think it is important for my clients to know that when you book me you will get a collection of images that tells the story of your family, or this time in your life. I want you to look back at your images and re-live the moments and emotions that you were feeling at that particular time, on that particular day
For parents, I want you to see that joy, awe, exhaustion, pure bliss, wonder, and all encompassing love that you have for your child, or children. I will capture the dedication you have to your partner as you navigate this crazy world together as the heads of your family, and the individual personalities of your children. These images will be a time capsule of your life, a way to return to the moments that go by too fast.
